Apple’s Latest Secret Project: iWatch?
According to sources close to the company, Apple has approximately 100 engineers, marketing hotshots and managers working on a wearable computer — possibly a curved glass smart watch.
They’ve been working towards people wearing computers for some time, including selling the iPod Nano with a watch strap and face. We’re never really more than three feet away from our smart phones at any time, according to researchers from MIT. That’s gotta say something about us as a society, and maybe Apple is onto something here.
Right now, this isn’t much more than rumour and speculation, especially since the two people who leaked this information claim they are “close to the company” but they could be anyone, including Apple’s own public relations people. Shockingly, Apple is declining comment.
One thing about an iWatch, with all the possibilities it could contain — Siri? Apple’s mapping software (that they’re still trying to make give accurate directions)? How would the apps work? What would it look like? How much will it cost? Do they have prototypes out yet that could be left in a bar somewhere? How can I find out which bar that Apple employee will be frequenting? Is there an app for that? — it will make the wearer a secret spy, just like James Bond or Inspector Gadget.
