Binoculars will one day be sitting next to the fax machine if Canon can make more affordable versions of their latest must have tech toy.
Check out these goggles. It’s time to finally go virtual with MREAL. This nifty little eyewear device could have the potential to 3D viewing to the next level.
It merges real images with the virtual image. You can take your sexiest self-portrait and be anywhere. Imagine yourself anywhere in the world or at any event. Wow vacation time or maybe going to the Oscars every night almost makes the price of these worth it. Almost.
The announced price of US $125,000 doesn’t really make this new toy a household must have product but one can hope it will be…one day.
“This technology certainly has the potential for consumer applications provided we can take the core informational technology and make it more lightweight, and get it to a price point that would make sense from a consumer standpoint,” said Dennis Amorosano, director and general manager, at Canon’s software product marketing and solutions business development division.
Ongoing work on the design and development is taking place at Canon headquarters but for now experts say this device is a great tool for developers and designers to have full-scale versions of. It allows them to see design work from all sides and get views like never before.
Not all of us are designers and developers, but all of us are dreamers. Imagine driving luxury cars but never leaving your home. This technology can make it as real as possible with its ability to merge the real with the virtual.
Or what about local attractions – it could make amusements parks, kids birthday parties – heck even adults – more interactive.
Lifelike realism that can help users experience it all in one room or take this headgear anywhere. Just like on Star Trek and the holodeck. Yes I made a reference to Star Trek – first and last….promise.
