Bollywood action hero Akshay Kumar took on the ALS ice bucket challenge in true stuntman style – with 11 buckets of ice water.

Nominated by fellow actor Riteish Desmukh, Kumar had 11 contestants from his show Dare to Dance, which he’s currently filming, help him out . At just 8C in windy Cape Town, South Africa, Kumar stands in the middle of the 11 contestants as they dump the icy cold water over his head.

The ALS ice bucket challenge originated in the U.S. and has been sweeping across the globe. The challenge aims to raise awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a degenerative disease and the most common motor neuron disease.

Anyone nominated for the challenge, has to complete the task within 24 hours and post it on social media, then nominate three more people to partake. If the challenge isn’t completed in time, the person has to donate $100 to any charity working for neurodegenerative disorders.

Although Kumar completed the challenge within 24 hours, he didn’t post the video to YouTube in time due to connectivity issues, so he still donated $100 to the cause.

Kumar further nominated his wife Twinkle Khanna, Johnny Lever and Salman Khan.
