Bollywood is known to celebrate all religious festivals with great fanfare and Ganesh Chaturthi is no exception.

Celebrities not only welcomed the god of wisdom into their homes but also made social calls to other celebrity homes to partake blessings and modaks (special sweets distributed during Ganesh festival).

Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra tweeted photos of the beautiful idols they brought into their homes while other actors tweeted their best wishes on the occasion.

Beating of drums, cymbals and dancing are nearly always a symbol to mark any festival in India and the sounds reverberate through the neighbourhoods when the deity is brought home in trucks, tempos, cars or two-wheelers.
