VANCOUVER DESI

Surrey grooved to Bollywood beats on Saturday with choreographer Shiamak Davar’s troupe performance at Surrey’s Bell Performing Arts Centre.

Hundreds of people, including MP Jinny Sims, attended the Summer Funk to watch colourful and energetic performances by Davar’s dance devotees aged 4 to 64.

The audience was very touched with an act put up by his Victory Arts Foundation performers with special needs, from North Shore Connexions Society, Developmental Disability Association in Richmond and Vancouver.

Another set of Davar’s performers took Toronto by storm the same day.

Vinay Virmani, lead actor of the Salman Khan co-production Dr. Cabbie, was at the Toronto event to promote his film and shook a leg with the artists, thrilling the audience.

Mississauga Councillor Bonnie Crombie also joined in the fun and learnt some Bollywood dance moves.

The date was a landmark for Shiamak Davar as his school in Vancouver celebrated ‘A Decade in Dance’.
