Bollywood is infamous for remaking Hollywood hits with an Indian twist.

Whether it was blockbuster ‘Satte pe Satta’ starring Amitabh Bachchan being inspired from ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’, Kamal Haasan’s ‘Chahchi 420′ based on Robin Williams’ ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ or Akshay Kumar’s ‘Heyy Babyy’ copied from ‘3 Men and A Baby’, they all reflected elements from their Hollywood counterparts.

But the roles have reversed on many occasions, when Hollywood turned to Bollywood for inspiration.

Here are 10 Hollywood movies that were inspired or remade from superhit Bollywood flicks:

  • ‘A Common Man’ starring Oscar-winning actor Ben Kingsley was an official remake of Bollywood movie ‘A Wednesday’ starring veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah.
  • Pearl Harbour’s love triangle in the backdrop of war resonates the plot from yesteryear Bollywood hit ‘Sangam’.
  • Leap Year was not a remake of ‘Jab We Met’ but the similarities couldn’t be missed.
  • Romantic Comedy ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘The Delivery Man’, both heroes donate sperms for money and give birth to hundreds of kids.
  • SV Krishnan directed both — Hollywood and Bollywood versions — Indian Telegu movie ‘Aahvaanam’ in 1997 and the remake ‘Divorce Invitation’ in 2012.
  • Salman Khan movie ‘Maine Pyaar Kyu Kiya’ and Hollywood film ‘Just Go With It’ starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler were both inspired from ‘Cactus Flower’. But you can’t miss the similarities.
  • Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Darr’ inspired ‘Fear’, where Khan played a stalker and we wished he still got the girl. In ‘Fear’ the stalker actually did.
  • Bollywood film ‘Rangeela’ starring Aamir Khan and Urmila Matondkar is very similar to ‘Win a Date With Tad Hamilton’.
  • According to IMDB, Kill Bill has a sequence inspired from Indian thriller ‘Abhay’, which stars veteran actor and filmmaker Kamal Haasan.
  • In Bollywood film Chhoti Si Baat, a shy guy wins the woman of his dreams with the help of a man who makes it his business to help people change their lives. In ‘Hitch’, Will Smith plays the hero and the advisor combined into one.
