Bollywood loves Canada.

And Akshay Kumar seems to be Canadians’ favourite. Just look at the number of films he’s shot here, and you will think he’s more Canadian than Indian.

To start with, some films from his ‘Khiladi’ series have been shot at several Toronto area locations and at Niagara Falls. Then you have ‘Bewafaa’ that was shot in Montreal, ‘Thank You’ that was shot in multiple locations in Vancouver, Toronto and Niagara and ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye’ in Calgary.

You can also count Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan as big fans of Canadian beauty. Some of their best films have featured Canada, sometimes as a stand-in for the U.S. But we know it’s Canada, don’t we?

Parts of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pardes’ were shot in our very own Vancouver. In fact, the film’s hit song, ‘Yeh Dil, Deewana’ was filmed on the Alex Fraser Bridge and scenes from the downtown and Robson Square can be identified while watching it carefully. Then came ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ that was shot partly in Toronto as well.

Scenes for Hrithik Roshan’s first film from the ‘Krrish’ franchise was also shot in Vancouver, Banff National Park and other locations in Alberta.  Roshan also filmed portions of his earlier film ‘Na Tum Jano Na Hum’ in Colwood, B.C.

Muscial romance ‘Taal’ featured the CN Tower very prominently while Calgary’s scenic beauty was captured best in the film ‘Tum Bin’.

YRF production’s ‘Neal n Nikki’ starring Uday Chopra and Tanisha Mukerji was filmed in Vancouver and Whistler.

A crossover film, ‘Bollywood Hollywood,’ featuring Canadian actress Lisa Ray in the lead, was also shot in Toronto.
