Bipasha Basu buoyed by a decade of Bollywood success

Mumbai, Sep 14 (IANS) She is seen as one of the most glamorous girls in B-town — and true to her image, actress Bipasha Basu prefers performance-oriented roles in commercially entertaining films to offbeat cinema.

“My choice with films has been very quirky. Whenever I have performed in an unsafe space, it has worked well for me. At this point of time, I am in a very greedy phase where I want performance-oriented roles and a very commercially entertaining film,” she said.

“I don’t want to do a performance-oriented role in an art film. I want people to realise that I am a good actor within the realms of a commercially entertaining film,” she added.

Having said that, the actress said she had done her share of offbeat movies too, with roles in Pankh, Lamha, Apaharan and Aakrosh.

Despite coming from a non-film background, the model-turned-actress has made a mark for herself in showbiz and is proud of herself.

Summing up her journey, the 33-year-old said: “I am one of those really lucky actors. I have survived 10 years in this business and am still choosing the things that I want, still a regular household name, still making a lot of money.”

If she takes credit for her achievements, she is equally open about owning up to her mistakes.

“There are peaks, there are valleys. I own up to my mistakes and I own my success completely. There is nobody who has helped me out ever. I feel very proud of myself,” said the actress, who was recently seen in Raaz 3, a horror film.

Bipasha has received positive response for Raaz 3 and says appreciation has come her way after a long time.

Directed by Vikram Bhatt, Raaz 3, which also features Emraan Hasmi and Esha Gupta, has so far reportedly grossed Rs. 50 crore.

Bipasha said: “I am nervous and anxious and excited. Appreciation pouring in is very humbling… I have got some fantastic reviews after a long time. I think it was much required at this point of time for me. It’s a good feeling.”
