Kolkata, Dec 19 (IANS) The West Bengal government Wednesday said it would start rolling out e-district projects from Jan 1, 2013 in the state, making delivery of essential government services online.
The government will launch the project, under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), in 19 districts of the state early 2013. The total project cost is estimated to be about Rs.41 crore.
“We have set a completion target of six months after which the citizen-centric e-services will be available online. We will start rolling out from Jan 1, 2013,” state Information Technology (IT) Minister Partha Chatterjee said.
“A sum of Rs.2.14 crore will be spent per district,” Chatterjee informed.
The e-district projects would focus on providing improved services to citizens. It would also introduce and strengthen new and existing delivery channels for the district administration at the district, subdivision and block levels for better support.
