There is something unique about going to an ice rink this time of year with winter upon us, warm jackets on and hot chocolate a must.  It just seems to fit in with the holiday season around the corner and no better way to celebrate winter than the wonderland that is Disney on Ice, taking place Nov. 21-25.

Skip the busy shopping malls this week and surprise the kids in your life with a couple of hours of magic.  Disney on Ice has been a perfect big event for our family – a 5 year old niece and 3 year old nephew discovering the magic of their favorite characters come to life on the ice has to be the greatest memory of all.  Parents, aunts, grandparents and all adults alike are just as amazed at the flawless performance that takes place on ice as the flawless wonder in the eyes of kids sitting with them.

I’ll never forget our first Disney on Ice event – two tiny faces with eyes wide open taking in every second of the show, the colorful costumes that filled every corner of the white arena background and the magical connections that are made when one of the characters skates by paying attention to each section and almost each child.

Getting kids this young to be in complete amazement for this period of a time – no crying, no fighting, no tantrums – just complete Disney bliss and little movement is probably the biggest victory of all time. No other event can do this.  And no other event gets talked about for days after and weeks in advance.
