Agra, Nov 9 (IANS) The first international congress for the rehabilitation of the disabled will be held in Agra from Nov 26 to 28, according to District Magistrate Ajay Chauhan.
More than 1,300 delegates from 86 countries are expected to take part in the deliberations.
Chauhan said the world congress would discuss the rights of the disabled, human rights, rehabilitation schemes, the security of the disabled, migration and other related issues.
Union Minister for Social Justice Kumari Selja will be the chief guest.
World Health Organisation’s goodwill ambassador and chairman of Japan’s Nippo Foundation Yohei Sasakawa will be the chief speaker at the congress.
A team of officials headed by Poonam Natrajan, who founded what used to be called the Spastics Society of India, Friday reviewed arrangements for the congress.
