New Delhi, Jan 22 (IANS) A 16-year-old student of an Air Force Senior Secondary School was found dead here Tuesday in a police memorial park, said police.
Shivam Singh Rawat, a Class 11 student of the school in Race Course area in central Delhi, was found dead inside a toilet of a police memorial park in Chanakyapuri area around 10.30 a.m.
The gardener of the park, who found the girl’s body, informed police about the body.
“There was no injury mark on the body of the victim. We have recovered some chemical substance from the victim’s possession, including a bottle of a sodium nitrate from his pocket,” said a police officer.
Rawat, who lived in a servant quarter of Kashmir House along with his parents, went missing from his house Jan 17.
His father Vijay Singh Rawat, employed with Jammu and Kashmir Cottage Emporium, filed a missing complaint with police, who lodged a kidnapping case.
“The victim’s father informed us that on Jan 17 afternoon Shivam told his mother that he was going to a nearby market. When he did not return till evening, his parents approached police,” said the officer.
One of the relatives of the victim informed police that a few days back Rawat had got poor marks in some subjects, following which his father scolded him.
“Since then he was upset. On Jan 15, he brought some chemical substances, including sodium nitrate, from Sadar Bazar Market,” the relative informed police.
“There is possibility that he was depressed and he committed suicide. We are waiting for autopsy report to ascertain the cause of death,” the officer added.
