Apollo launches telemedicine service in Myanmar

New Delhi, Dec 11 (IANS) People of Myanmar can now get access to quality treatment and latest medical technology in India with the Apollo Group of Hospitals launching telemedicine service in the Myanmarese capital Yangon, an official said Tuesday.

Sailesh Thangal, deputy chief of the Indian embassy in Yangon, inaugurated the telemedicine facility services at the KC Healthcare in Myanmar’s major city along with Prathap C. Reddy, Apollo Hospitals Group chairman who was joined by a tele-link.

Apollo telemedicine network will facilitate ready access to specialists and super-specialists for referrals, consultation, second opinion, reviews, post-treatment follow-ups besides facilitating tele-continuing medical education and programmes for the medical fraternity in Yangon.

“This project will enable us to move to the next level of treatment and will open new avenue for our people to explore latest medical facilities available at Apollo Hospital in real time,” said Kyaw Min, director of Keen Cie Co. Ltd. in Yangon.

At the inaugural function, live tele-consultation was demonstrated between doctors of KC Healthcare and Apollo Hospital in Delhi.

“Our mission is to bring healthcare of international standards within the reach of every individual. We are committed to the achievement and maintenance of excellence in education, research and healthcare for the benefit of humanity,” said Reddy.
