Raipur, Dec 17 (IANS) A day after 15 people were hospitalised here after botched up eye surgeries at a camp, Chhattisgarh Health Minister Amar Agrawal Monday met the victims and assured strong action against the erring doctors.
The government announced Rs.50,000 compensation to each of the 12 seriously affected patients who attended the camp Dec 9-10.
The 15 people were rushed to MGM Hospital here from Mahasamund district’s Bagbahra area as most of them lost sight after their operation at a health camp held at community health centre where a nearly 145 people were treated.
“The minister talked to each of the 15 patients at the hospital in Raipur and later with the doctors who are treating them,” a government statement said.
The minister assured the victims that the government would take care of their all medical expenses and would take strict actions against the erring doctors.
