Honchos learn how Bhagwad Gita can boost business

Thane, Dec 9 (IANS) Corporate leaders from India and other countries spent two days here learning how spirituality and teachings of Bhagwad Gita can help promote industrial fortunes, at a seminar called Artha addressed by spiritual guru Radhanath Swami.

Radhanath Swami said Sunday, the concluding day of the event, that individuals faced many negative events in their lives, but if they were spiritually geared up, the ill-effects themselves were negated.

He cited the example of Indian industrialists Arvind Mafatlal and Hrishikesh Mafatlal, who, through their spiritual involvements, managed to successfully handle business turmoils several times during their lives.

Radhanath Swami also discussed how Alfred Ford, of Ford Motors in the US, treaded the path of spirituality in all dealings, be they employees, business partners, family or friends, with a sense of humility and concern, which went a long way in establishing long-term cordial relations.

“More happiness is derived in giving than receiving, and when one gives to society something, nature replenishes it manifold. Inner fulfillment comes from giving, not taking,” Radhanath Swami said.

He explained that every human being had both – a divine nature and a demonic nature – and they behaved depending on the choice they made.

“A real leader is one who serves, and not controls,” Radhanath Swami said.

Explaining meditation, he said it need not be done sitting in one place. “It is connecting with God, and can be achieved during normal business dealings by being tenacious to values based on spiritual premises.”

Radhanath Swami, author of international best-seller “Journey Home”, addressed issues like can businesspersons become modern world role models, what ancient Vedic wisdom can offer to the modern corporate world, how spirituality can be practised in business, what kind of a business model should be planned for the increasingly restless and confused Gen-Next.

Other speakers at the two-day event included Hrishikesh Mafatlal, N.D. Desai of Apar Industries, Sai Sudhakar of Apar Technologies, Singapore, Rashmi Kamdar with business interests in Russia and South America, Naveen Kumar of Nityo Infotech, and Rajesh Talwar of Basil Partners.

The guests of honour included: Alfred Ford of Ford Motors, Atul Goel of Goel Ganga Group, R.K. Behera and Ratikant Behera of RSB Group, Ajitkumar Jindal of Tata Motors, Ramesh Talwalkar of Premier Engineering and Rahul Dhoot of Dhoot Techno-projects.
