New Delhi, Nov 30 (IANS) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is offering two short-term online programmes on sustainability science and wetlands management respectively for the 2013 session, a statement said Friday.
‘Appreciation Programmes on Sustainability Science (APSS)’ and ‘Appreciation on Sustainable Management of Wetlands (APSMW)’ have 50 seats each.
The last date to apply is Dec 15.
“The major objective of APSS is to build the capacity of policy makers, administrators, scientists and educators as well as the general public in the science and art of environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development,” said the University in a statement.
“APSMW will enhance awareness on the role of wetlands on social, cultural and livelihood dimensions of the dependent communities,” it added.
Established in 1985, IGNOU was set up to provide cost-effective education, especially to the poor. It educates over four million students in India and 36 other countries through 21 schools of studies and a network of 67 regional centres, around 3,000 learner support centres and 67 overseas centres.
The university offers about 490 certificate, diploma, degree and doctoral programmes.
