Funny Sex: Taiwan's sex-up restaurant offers food that look like male and female organs. CEN Agency

After the success of a toilet-themed restaurant in Taiwan that became an idea syndicated throughout Asia, Taiwan is now offering another bizarre themed restaurant, this time themed on sex.

Most of the dishes are designed to look like something that is a variation on sexual organs and aimed at giving a whole new meaning to the term meat and two veg.

And invariably those foods that are not served up looking like they are something to do with sex are served in bowls that are either shaped like breasts or other private parts. Aimed mostly at young people, managers say that they are packed out every night and they are confident there is an appetite for more.

In the bathroom soap is dispensed from breast shaped dispensers and dinner guests can boost their numbers by inviting a sex doll to join them at the table, apparently to lighten the atmosphere while guest are waiting for food.

Waitresses are equipped with uniforms that add to the plastic passion fantasies of diners and there are also inflatable phallic shapes that can either be strapped on, used as table decorations or even fitted to the wall as part of the general decor.

Manager Chen Yu-qi, 43, said: “Our founder spent a long time collecting the erotic objects in the restaurant. It’s not easy to choose, as they have to be decorative and not repulsive.”

The first of the “Funny Sex” restaurants opened in Taiwan’s Kaohsiung City and has been such a success that they are also now thinking about syndicating the idea following on from the The Modern Toilet restaurant chain that is now so popular not just in Taiwan, but also in China.

At the toilet-themed restaurants food is shaped like excrement, and there are toilet seats for chairs.

The chain started off in Taiwan where there are now more than 13 branches located in cities across the country, and in 2009 it opened up the first branch in mainland China in the city of Shenzhen. Now it has almost 20 branches located in big cities across the country including Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai.

Spokesman Shaiming Fang said: “Seven years on and we are still packing them in. It shows that our idea is not just a flash in the pan and we are even exploring exporting the concept to other countries.”
