Beijing, Dec 21 (IANS) A 27-year-old woman in Shanghai was poisoned when she used an insecticide to get rid of lice from her hair.
The woman had visited her friend and stayed in her house for a few days. When she returned to her home in Shanghai, she found her hair was infested with lice.
She tried to pick them out with her fingers but when she did not succeed, she tried a local remedy, which is mixing dichlorvos, an insecticide, in water to wash her hair.
The insecticide affected her adversely while she was washing her hair.
She received timely treatment at a hospital which saved her life, the Shanghai Daily reported Friday.
