65-year-old woman killed in Delhi home

New Delhi, Sep 5 (IANS) In yet another case, a 65-year-old woman was killed inside her residence by unidentified assailants during a robbery bid Wednesday here, police said.

The incident took place around 4.30 p.m. in east Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar.

“Ratna Jalal was found strangled to death with a dupatta. Later a robbery was carried out by the assailants. It is being assumed that there must be about three robbers,” said a police officer.

The woman, who hailed from Kashmir had been staying in Jyoti Nagar for the past 20 years with her family, was alone at the house while her husband and son left home at about 1 p.m. for some work.

According to the neighbours, they did not see anyone entering or exiting from the house. Even, they had not listened any loud voice.

“Some cash along with the jewellery from the cupboard were missing and the ornaments that a woman wears were also missing. Initial inquiry reveals that there was a friendly entry in the home as two glasses of water were recovered from the spot,” added the officer.

The body has been taken to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital for the post-mortem examination.

Earlier, on Sep 1, Sheela, 70, a resident of west Delhi’s Moti Nagar, was found stabbed to death in her house.
