The business licence for the Motel Bollywood, a Surrey motel on King George Boulevard, has been revoked by the city for fire safety hazards, poor upkeep of the grounds, and failure to maintain a guest registry,
Philip Huynh, Surrey’s assistant city solicitor, told the Surrey North Delta Leader, “It’s the bylaw (department’s) position that the violation of the business licence bylaw has been repeated and chronic,” when explaining the closure.
Residents have been given 30 days to find alternate accommodation, after which time the business will be closed.
According to reports, between January 2011 and July 2012 there were at least ten inspections of the premises where violations were noted.
The owners of the establishment posted an ad on Craigslist for a manager as recently as mid-August, looking for someone who “can speak fluent English” and “has some experience in customer service.”
