Court lets off woman charged for mishandling boss’ dogs, one bit a man’s genitals

New Delhi – A Delhi court has let off a woman facing trial for being negligent with her employer’s dogs – one of whom bit a man six years ago.

Additional Sessions Judge Girish Kathpalia acquitted Kiran Biswas after the victim, Nand Kishore, who was allegedly bitten in his genital area, failed to appear before the court for his deposition.

The court observed that the identity of the canine and the victim was not established by police before the judge, and that it remained unanswered as to who was the person who was bitten by the dog.

“Even with regard to identity of the dog, who had allegedly bitten Nand Kishore, no probe at all was carried out,” the court said.

“What to say of getting the alleged offending dog examined by forensic experts to connect the injury with the dog, the investigating officer (IO) did not even get any of the dogs identified by injured Kishore, though he met Kishore about three-four times and even found the four dogs in the house of Kiran (Biswas).”

The woman while claiming her innocence said that she was falsely implicated in the case by M.L. Satija, a resident of the same locality and also known to Kishore, who used to harass her and her employer.

Police alleged that suspecting Kishore of wrong intentions, Kiran released one of her employer’s dogs on him, which pounced on him and bit him in his genital area. The incident took place in September 2008 when Kiran was taking a stroll with her employer’s three dogs in East of Kailash area in south Delhi.

The case was decided on April 7, and the papers released Thursday.
