Pakistan McDonald’s employee demands husband and wife sit apart in restaurant

It was just a regular Sunday when a husband and wife decided to eat at a McDonalds in Karachi, Pakistan. That is until the man sat next to his wife and put his hand around her – a McDonald’s employee soon approached demanded he move and instead sit across his wife.
When asked why, the staff explained that McDonalds is a family restaurant and they do not allow that kind of seating arrangement because it’s against their policy, accrording to theman.
The husband expressed his sentiments over a blog and has raked in a lot of attention from Muslims and non-Muslims.
Noman Ansari, who stopped at a branch in Karachi for a diet Coke, said the episode was a symptom of an increasingly intolerant nation.
A spokesman for McDonald’s said it was investigating the complaint.
Ansari said trouble started when he sat next to his wife and slipped an arm behind her shoulder.
A member of staff told the couple to move but when they again sat beside each other in an adjacent booth it became clear that the issue was not their location, but the proximity of a man and a woman in public.
In an account posted on his blog, Ansari said he was told: “Sir, this is a family restaurant. Couples sitting together is against the policy of McDonald’s Pakistan, as it goes against the family atmosphere of the restaurant.”
He said that he is amused and saddened by the incident. – IANS
