New Delhi, Jan 2 (IANS) The central government Wednesday directed the states to ensure that foreigners visiting India on a tourist visa do not violate its provisions and indulge in journalistic activities for covering events.
“We have noticed that foreigners coming on tourist visa are involved in coverage of events (and) journalistic activities. In this context, it is stated that tourist visa is not the appropriate visa for such activities by the foreigners,” said a statement from the union home ministry.
All state governments and authorities concerned were requested to ensure strict compliance, said the statement.
The home ministry also requested the external affairs ministry to convey the message to all Indian missions/posts abroad.
