New Delhi, Feb 17 (IANS) Two days after the suicide of the 52-year-old mother of Geetika Sharma, a former air-hostess who too committed suicide about six months ago, Delhi Police Sunday recorded the statements of her husband and son.
Investigators recorded statements of Anuradha Sharma’s husband Dinesh and son Ankit, and also questioned some of the women’s relatives, said a police officer close to the investigation.
Anuradha committed suicide Friday evening at her residence in Ashok Vihar, leaving behind a suicide note accusing former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda and his aide Aruna Chaddha as being the reason for taking the extreme step. The two were also accused by her daughter Geetika for leading her to commit suicide.
Anuradha was cremated Saturday.
“As Anuradha’s family and relatives were in shock, we contacted them Sunday for their official statement,” added the officer.
“As per the gravity of the case, we have to find out the circumstances created by Kanda and Chaddha, whom Geetika’s mother blamed in her suicide note, that forced the victim to commit suicide,” said the officer.
After recording the statements of Anuradha’s son and husband, investigators are likely to question Kanda and Chaddha Monday.
Police have registered a new case of abetment to suicide against Kanda and Chaddha on the basis of Anuradha’s suicide note.
Geetika, 23, a former air hostess in the now defunct MDLR Airlines belonging to Kanda, had committed suicide on the intervening night of Aug 4-5, 2012, by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house.
Geetika had left two suicide notes naming Kanda and Chaddha for harassing her and driving her to suicide. Both Kanda, who is the prime accused in the case for abetting the suicide of Geetika, and Chaddha, are now in judicial custody, and have denied the allegations.
