Greece: Man charged with murdering taxi driver who punched him after bank robbery

ATHENS — A prosecutor has charged a 29-year-old man with murdering a taxi driver who had tried to stop him and two other accomplices following a bank robbery on the Greek island of Paros.
Police say the suspect was arrested Saturday in Athens and has been identified from bank cameras, and from the DNA found in a hat, a handkerchief and a cellphone he dropped when the taxi driver punched him on Aug. 10. The suspect then shot the taxi driver several times and he and his accomplices fled using a waiting car.
Police say the suspect’s DNA also matches those found in a safe house used by an armed anarchist group, Conspiracy Nuclei of Fire. The group has been involved in arson attacks and bombings.
