Shimla, March 19 (IANS) The Congress party’s “obsession” with the Gandhi family Tuesday turned out to be a topic for animated discussions in the Himachal Pradesh assembly.
Training its guns at the ruling Congress for thanking the Gandhis for anything and everything, BJP member Randhir Sharma fired a salvo by saying the party would not even miss the opportunity of expressing thanks to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s prodigy had he been married.
Sharma’s assertions came after Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had praised the Gandhis in his budget speech last week.
“This positive turnaround has been possible under the visionary leadership of honourable Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the dynamic vice president of the Indian National Congress Rahul Gandhi,” the chief minister had said.
The BJP member, participating in the debate on the budget, also questioned the contribution of the Gandhi family towards the state.
