IAF employee killed in bid to help neighbour

New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) A spurned lover and his three friends stabbed to death an elderly Indian Air Force employee and injured his neighbour and mother of a girl whom the accused stalked, police said Saturday. The assailant, along with two others, was arrested.

Sachin Nagar killed Jagatjot Singh, an IAF employee who was to retire Sep 30, in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai neighbourhood around 7 p.m. Friday, when he tried to intervene in an argument between Sachin and Kamla, 45, the mother of the girl Sachin stalked, police said.

Besides Kamla, Singh’s wife Prakashi Devi, 60, was also injured by the culprits, police said.

A case of murder and attempt to murder was registered against Sachin and his friends Sandeep and Sanjay. Their fourth associate is absconding.

‘Sachin had a one-sided love for Kamla’s 17-year-old daughter. He used to stalk the girl and also proposed to her many times. The girl’s rejection enraged him and he along with other accused reached their house Friday evening,’ said a police officer.

Kamla asked them to leave and an argument ensued. Jagatjot Singh and his wife tried to intervene but the accused attacked them, police said.
