In a shocking incident, an Indian man bit and killed a venomous snake in his bed, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Rai Singh, from central India’s Chhattisgarh state, saw the blue krait slithering towards him and fearing the snake would bite him, bit the creature instead.

“At nine o’clock in the evening while I went to sleep on my bed, I saw a snake and tried to shoo it away with a stick but it attacked me. I bit it”, Singh told a local television channel.

Singh’s neighbour described the incident as “astonishing” and a “miracle” as the kraits are highly venomous and most of its victims die after suffering progressive paralysis, the Daily Telegraph reported.

It is one of the four venomous snakes that account for most snake-bite deaths in the country.
