Vancouver Lions win first match in World Kabaddi League, beat Sonakshi Sinha’s United Singhs

Vancouver Lions finally won their first World Kabaddi League match 57-53 against Sonakshi Sinha’s United Singh’s on Sunday.

It took four games and a great fight-back in the last two quarters for the Vancouver Lions to score their maiden victory and move up one position from the bottom of the table.

Gagandeep Singh Sabrawa of the Vancouver Lions was the man of the match as well as the Best Raider contributing 18 points to his team’s kitty, according to a press release.

United Singh’s player Sandeep Singh also put up a valiant show for his team with six stops in the 15th match of the League.

The United Singh were narrowly ahead at 14-13 after the first quarter, but increased that to a sizeable 29-24 midway into the game, before the Vancouver Lions staged a remarkable comeback to snatch the lead at 40-39.

The Vancouver Lions then managed to nose ahead to 57-53 by the end to clinch their victory.

After Sunday’s second and last match in Delhi, the next set of matches in the coming weekend will be played in Ludhiana.
