Indian police are on the hunt for a college student who allegedly threw boiling water on a 15-year-old girl after she unfriended him on Facebook, according to the Hindustan Times.

The Indian news agency reports that the boy, an undergrad from the northern Indian region of Bihar, is a student of the young girl’s father and went to their home Wednesday afternoon claiming to be looking for his ID card. But instead, he shoved the mother aside and poured boiling water on the victim’s face.

The 15-year-old girl is now in hospital being treated for burns to her face.

According to the Hindustan Times, a First Information Report has been filed with police.

“My father is a teacher and he (the accused) used to come for tuitions to our home,” the victim’s statement to police reads. “I accepted his (Facebook) friend request a year ago because I found him decent then.”But of late he had become abusive and so I ‘unfriended’ him last week.”

According to the Hindustan Times, police are searching for the young man who they believe is on the run.
