Jobless man found dead near highrise building

New Delhi, Sep 23 (IANS) A 22-year-old unemployed man was found dead in mysterious circumstances near a highrise building here Sunday, police said.

Ankit Sharma, resident of Ballabgarh in Haryana, was found lying in a pool of blood in the courtyard of a multi-storey building in Katwaria Sarai in south Delhi where he was temporarily staying with his two friends for the past 20 days.

Police said the youth, who was under the influence of alcohol, fell down accidentally from the fifth floor of the building.

Alleging foul play, Sharma’s family members said he was killed by his friends for money.

They held a protest outside the Vasant Vihar police station and demanded action against his friends with whom he was living.

According to Sharma’s family members, he had recently sold his paternal property at Bahadarpur village near Ballabgarh and had got Rs.20 lakh as his share.

“When Sharma’s friends got to know about this, they took him to Delhi around 20 days ago saying they will help him get a job. Sharma’s friends had recently withdrawn Rs.5 lakh from his account to buy a car. The remaining amount is missing,” a police officer quoted Sharma’s family as saying.

The post-mortem examination report of the youth is awaited.
