New Delhi, Nov 24 (IANS) A 55−year−old man was killed when his car caught fire in the capital, police said Saturday.
“Ved Prakash was returning home when his Maruti 800 car caught fire around 10 p.m. Friday in Rohini area of west Delhi. Within minutes, the fire engulfed the entire car,” a police official said.
The man managed to get out of the car, but suffered critical burn injuries. He was rushed to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital.
“He succumbed to injuries during treatment early Saturday,” the official added.
According to police, Ved Prakash had left home Friday evening to meet someone near Himalaya Apartments in Rohini’s Sector 2.
Police and fire officials suspect that the car caught fire due to improper installation of the CNG kit.
Ved Prakash lived with family in Rohini Sector 2 and worked as a driver with Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
A parked Maruti WagonR near his vehicle was also damaged in the fire. The incident caused traffic disruption in the area.
