Indian woman Raaka Tamasi, 30, who apparently disturbed burglars that had broken into her house in the village of Bargauna in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh was doused in a flammable liquid and set alight in front of her five-year-old daughter after she apparently recognized one of the crooks.

According to the girl Sabeena, who is currently being treated for shock, her mother had been killed after saying: “I know you, how can you do this to us.”

The thieves apparently made off with gold jewellery in the night-time raid. Hearing her cries, neighbours ran to help the woman and called medics who took her immediately to hospital but she was declared dead on arrival.
