Sangita Patel starts her co-hosting duties on ET Canada on Monday, March 25, 2013 opposite Rick Campanelli. Submitted photo/ET Canada
Born and bred Torontonian Sangita Patel is stepping into some big shoes as she takes over as co-host of ET Canada while Cheryl Hickey goes on maternity leave.
But dealing with big stars? That’s old hat for Patel, who says her most famous celebrity interview to date was with Brad Pitt, while she was working the red carpet for Rushes, the highlight show for the Toronto International Film Festival.
According to Patel, she noticed that Pitt looked like he was going to skip the entire row of media personalities, when she thought to cry out, “I’m pregnant. And I’m cold.” Patel knew that Pitt’s partner, Angelina Jolie, was pregnant at the same time.
As it turned out, Pitt ran right over to her, took her hand and the two started to chat.
Now, Patel, whose past TV work also includes stints as a presenter on the Weather Network and weather specialist on City Television, will get many more chances to convince stars to chat with her as the co-host of one of Canada’s most popular entertainment news shows.
She starts the gig Monday, March 25, 2013 opposite Rick Campanelli. ET Canada airs on Global.
To learn more about Patel, who actually graduated from university as an engineer and is the mother of two, go to the ET Canada website.
