EVENT: Children’s author to read in Richmond from her Olly Jolly book

Local first-time author Sundari Francis-Bala will be reading from her debut children’s book on Saturday at the Richmond Library.

Francis-Bala’s book, “Olly Jolly Says: Count Your Blessings,” captures the imagination of six to 10-year-olds, while instilling the positive values of gratitude.

The book is written about a young boy with a great imagination, but sometimes seems sad, until he meets the magical bee who helps him see, hear, smell and touch his blessings and get his smile back.

Francis-Bala teaches at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, has three children and divides her time between Bangalore, Dubai and Vancouver.

Her reading will take place in the Kids’ Place Program Room at 11 a.m. where she will also talk about her experiences organizing the Goat Project in India.

The book is available online and in local bookstores, with 50 per cent of the profits going towards the education of children in need in rural India and Canada.
