At least four international students from India believed to be working illegally in Surrey were arrested by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officials on Monday.
“Members of the CBSA’s Enforcement and Intelligence Division arrested a number of foreign nationals in Surrey, believed to be working without authorization in Canada,” a CBSA spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
The individuals were believed to be in violation of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), which the CBSA is responsible for enforcing.
The number of those arrested is unknown, but CBSA confirmed they are being processed in accordance with Canadian immigration laws.
