Punjabi singer Tanya Gill knew Vancouver was the best Canadian city for shooting her latest music video.

The young artist moved to Toronto from India just two weeks ago and while she enjoys the Ontario city as a place to call home, the scenery just couldn’t compare to the West Coast, she said.

“For shooting, Vancouver is better,” Gill told Vancouver Desi on Tuesday as her film crew set up.

“There are so many locations, there are so many views — that’s why I really want to do my new video here,” she said. “I love it and Vancouver is really beautiful.

“It’s awesome.”

Gill’s choice of location was a boon for local businesses, as she had her hair and makeup styled by Radha Sarn, owner of Surrey’s Salon Picasso, who also helped with hair and makeup for the Times of India Film Awards last month.

Gill’s video was also filmed by Vancouver’s 5K Films Ltd.

Most of the shoot was done along the scenic waterfront near Canada Place, with small crowds gathering to watch Gill — her hair and makeup done in the lavish Bollywood style — dance and lip sync under the beating sun.

The crew planned to shoot the rest of the video Tuesday night at Cypress Mountain.
