New Delhi, Dec 19 (IANS) Fake currency directly or indirectly supplied by Pakistan has been pushed into India via Bangladesh, parliament was informed Wednesday.
Minister of State for Home R.P.N. Singh told the Rajya Sabha that this information had come from central intelligence and investigation agencies.
He said the finance ministry had urged the foreign secretary to take up the issue with Bangladesh.
The minister said various organs of the Indian government were working in tandem to combat the menace of fake currency.
“The security features in the high value currency notes are being constantly upgraded,” he said.
“The RBI (Reserve Bank of India) has also strengthened the mechanism for detection of counterfeit notes by the banks.”
