Krasnoyarsk (Russia), Jan 26 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A branch of Russia’s Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP) in Siberia will put photos of persistent debtors on beer mug coasters in pubs and restaurants to facilitate their arrest, an FSSP spokesperson said.
“We have already tested this practice when we put the pictures of debtors in the newspapers with explanations of their debts, and asked local residents to report on the whereabouts of these wanted persons,” Natalia Fomina said.
“People respond, they call us and help us. We hope that this experiment with beer coasters will bring positive results as well,” she said.
Aside from the picture, the coaster will carry debtor’s names and an FSSP contact number.
The list of wanted debtors to be featured on beer coasters includes tax dodgers and those who deliberately faulted on bank loans or refuse to pay child support.
The experiment will be launched in the city of Krasnoyarsk in February. Several owners of pubs and restaurants in the city have already agreed to be part of the project, the FSSP said.
