New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS) A 13−year−old Class 8 girl was injured when she attempted suicide by jumping off the fifth floor of a building here Thursday, police said. Her family members alleged that she took the step after being scolded by her teacher.
The girl, who studies in a government school, jumped off here residential building in north Delhi’s Samaypur Badli a short while after her physical training instructor allegedly scolded her over a mobile theft in the school.
“After being depressed over the allegation of mobile theft she came back to her house and few minutes later she went to the terrace and jumped towards the ground,” said her mother.
She was taken to hospital where her condition is critical, said a police officer.
Later, the family members approached police to register a complaint against the teacher.
“We have not found any evidence in the case so far,” said a senior police officer.
“The case is in our notice. I have asked the education officer to conduct an inquiry and submit a report,” Deputy Director of Education Meena Kumari told IANS.
