Sonia, Rahul travel in bus to Surajkund

Surajkund (Haryana), Nov 9 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Rahul Gandhi Friday travelled in a bus with cabinet ministers to the venue of the party’s strategy meeting here, said sources.

Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi stepped out of their Z category security cover and travelled along with the cabinet ministers in a Volvo bus from the party headquarters in Delhi to the venue of the meet to project a picture of unity and convey a message of austerity, party sources said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh could not travel by bus due to security reasons.

Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Communications and IT Minister Kapil Sibal, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Road Transport and Highways Minister C.P. Joshi were amongst those in the bus.

Around 35 senior party who are members of the all powerful Congress Working Committee members travelled to the venue in another Volvo bus, the sources said.
