Sikh terrorism outfit met in Surrey, B.C: police

Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Chairman of Panch Pardhani

Punjab police say they arrested Daljit Singh, described as a radical Sikh leader, because he was planning to revive terrorist activities in Canada.

Daljit Singh aka Bittu, the former president the political party Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani), was arrested from his residence in Gurdev Nagar in Ludhiana, Punjab on September 21 along with Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) president Kulbir Singh Barapind.

“The representatives of Bittu and Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) met at Surrey in Canada in the second week of September, where they planned to revive terrorist activities in the country,” reads a police report, a copy of which was obtained by the Times of India.

Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) is designated as a terrorist group in Canada and has been connected to the the June 23, 1985 Air India bombing, which left 329 dead. Police in India say BKI has linked up with other groups like Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) and Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) to agitate for the seprate state of Khalistan in India.

According to TOI the police report which been filed by Inspector Nirmal Singh, however does not mention any seizure of explosive material at Bittu’s residence.

It however connected Bittu with leaders of Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) and Khalistan Tiger Force.

“Since January 2011, activists and supporters of BKI and KZF settled abroad have sent more than Rs 1 crores (about C$209,000) to Daljit Singh’s (Bittu) associates through hawala (black market) channels and he has made several sleeper cells of terrorists across the country,” the police report states.

Meanwhile a statement from the Canadian Sikh Coalition said it will be launching the “Free the Singh” Campaign to prevent further incarceration and torture of Daljit Singh Bittu and others

According to a statement issued from Vancouver, petitions would be signed in Gurudwara’s across North America followed by a letter writing campaign to politicians and human rights organizations nationally and internationally, sikhsiyasat.net reported.

The Canadian Sikh Coalition and Sikh Youth of America have commenced the process to lobby human rights organizations to recognize these men as “Prisoners of Conscience”, the website said.

Canada is why you came. Can you not leave your old baggage behind? Canada has nothing to do with your past.

Aysha says:

CNN praised Sikh community and Sikh religion after Sikh’s handled shooting in a Sikh temple peacefully. Sikh were always a target of Indian Government (along with Christians, Muslims and other minorities in India). Americans praising Sikhs must have been very hard for Indian government to swallow. Now, they are trying to create these pathetic rumors.

ed says:

also – what about the 200 plus dead on air india – why has no one paid the price for this massacre – i didnt do any harm to the sikh nation nor did my family – why do i have to witness your aggression here

Aysha says:

Sorry for your loss. Many sikhs died on that flight as well. Indian government was behind that bombing. Indian government official changed his plan to fly out on that same flight very last minute. Indian government never gave Canadian government the black box from that flight. Sikh community is also very sad for the loss of many innocent lives on that flight.

Sunny says:

The real terrorist is the gov’t of India who committed atrocities against The Sikhs and was responsible for the 1984 sikh genocide and killings of the many innocent punjabi youths in the 80′s n 90′s.
