Agartala, Nov 25 (IANS) Three people were killed and 19 others seriously injured Sunday when a bus plying from Agartala to northern Tripura rolled down a hill in the northeastern state, police said.
“The private bus carrying GAIL (Gas Authority of India Limited) workers rolled down a 60−foot−deep gorge this (Sunday) morning after the driver lost control over the speeding vehicle. One worker died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital,” a police spokesman told reporters.
The injured were shifted to the Govind Ballabh Pant Medical College and Hospital here. Of the 19 injured, the condition of eight is stated to be critical.
The GAIL authority was taking workers to an exploration site at Atharamura hill ranges in northern Tripura, 50 km from Agartala.
