Vancouver’s “Butter Chicken” comedy gang is headed to Surrey.

Newton Cultural Centre will be a stage for the live sketch-comedy show “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Chicken” from Nov. 15 to 17.

The “best of” show, produced by South Asian Arts and Bollywood Shenanigans, is billed as a cross between Saturday Night Live and Bollywood films.

“It’s the first time that (the Vancouver-based producers) are taking the popular comedy show on the road to Surrey,” show publicist Sabrina Mehra Furminger told the Now.

“For the first time, Surrey audiences will be able to savour the spicy comedy without having to venture past the city limits.”

The production features a cast of seven, including Surrey resident Stuart Grey, Furminger added.

The show promises “a gut-busting buffet of laugh-till-you-cry, edgy, racy, fast-paced live sketch comedy.”

There are five show times during its run at Newton Cultural Centre, at 13530 72nd Ave., Surrey. Tickets are $20 in advance (via (butterchicken.eventbrite.ca») and $25 at the door. For details, visit www.southasianarts.ca or call 778-706-6224.
