Azarenka eases into third round of Australian Open
Melbourne, Jan 17 (IANS) Defending champion Victoria Azarenka advanced to the third round of the women’s singles at the Australian Open here Thursday with a straight-sets win over Greek Eleni Daniilidou.
The world No. 1 Belarussian lost just one game in the 6-1, 6-0 victory and will next play American Jamie Hampton, reports Xinhua.
Top-seeded Azarenka will possibly play former world No.1 Caroline Woziniacki in the quarterfinals as she defends her first Grand Slam title.
“I felt really good. I enjoyed a lot the way I was focused,” said Azarenka.
