Ranchi, Jan 19 (IANS) A brilliant bowling performance saw India bowl out England for a measly 155 in the third One-day International (ODI) at the JSCA International Stadium here Saturday.
After India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni elected to field, the Indian bowlers kept their leader’s faith by bowling out the visitors in 42.2 overs.
Man of the Match in the second ODI at Kochi Ravindra Jadeja was again the star of the show as he clinched three wickets in 6.2 overs.
Jadeja bowled both Craig Kieswetter and Jade Dernbach and caught Samit Patel plumb in front of the stumps. Incidentally, all three batsmen went back to the pavilion for a duck.
Off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin provided good support to Jadeja, taking two wickets for 37 runs from his quota of 10 overs.
Earlier, pacer Shami Ahmed provided the first breakthrough for the home team when he took the wicket of opener and England skipper Alastair Cook for 17, which started the slide for the English batsmen.
Ishant Sharma also provided his team with two wickets that of Kevin Pietersen (17) and Joe Root, who top scored with 39. Both were caught behind by local boy Dhoni.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Suresh Raina also chipped in with a wicket each.
India need to score 156 in their 50 overs to take a 2-1 lead in the five match series.
This is the first cricket match at the newly built 39,000-capacity stadium.
