ORLANDO, Fla. — Davis Love III and son Dru birdied five of the last six holes for a 12-under 60 in the Father-Son Challenge scramble event, giving them a one-stroke lead Saturday after the first round.

Dru Love is an Alabama freshman after winning five Georgia state titles in high school.

Mark O’Meara and son Shaun, and Fred and Taylor Funk were a stroke back, and Larry Nelson, who won the last two Father-Sons in 2007-08 before the event went on a three-year hiatus, was two shots back with son Josh.

Bernhard and Christina Langer, one of two father-daughter pairings, also was 10 under at the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes along with 72-year-old Jack Nicklaus and son Gary, Hale and Steve Irwin, and Vijay and Qass Singh.

Arnold Palmer, the oldest player in the field at 83, had an 80 in tandem with grandson Will Wears.

AUSTRALIAN PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

COOLUM, Australia (AP) — Australia’s Daniel Popovic shot a 3-under 69 to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of an Australian PGA Championship.

Popovic, outside the top 1,000 in world ranking, had a 54-hole total of 13-under 203 on the Palmer Coolum Resort course. Fellow Australian Andrew Brown, who has never won as a professional and who has only one top-10 finish on the Australasian Tour, was second after a 64.

Peter Senior, the 53-year-old Australian who won the Australian Open last week, was tied for third with countryman Matthew Griffin. Senior shot 68, and Griffin had a 70.

ALFRED DUNHILL CHAMPIONSHIP

MALELANE, South Africa (AP) — South African star Charl Schwartzel shot an 8-under 64 to take a 10-stroke lead after the third rounds of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Schwartzel, coming off an 11-stroke victory last week in the Asian Tour’s Thailand Golf Championship, had a 21-under 195 total at Leopard Creek in the event sanctioned by the European and Sunshine tours.

France’s Gregory Bourdy was second after a 74.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Brunei (AP) — India’s Jeev Milkha Singh saved par on the final hole to earn a half-point and help Asia cut Europe’s lead to one in the Royal Trophy.

Down 3 1/2-1/2 on Friday after the opening foursomes, Asia won two fourball matches and halved the other two to cut Europe’s lead to 4 1/2-3 1/2 entering the eight closing singles matches Sunday at The Empire Hotel and Country Club.

Singh and Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat halved with European playing captain Jose Maria Olazabal and fellow Spanish star Miguel Angel Jimenez. South Korea’s Bae Sang-moon and China’s Wu Ashun also halved their match with Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts and Germany’s Marcel Siem.

Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa and Yoshinori Fujimoto beat Sweden’s Henrik Stenson and Spain’s Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano 3 and 1, and South Korea’s Y.E. Yang and K.T. Kim edged Italian brothers Francesco and Edoardo Molinari 2 and 1.

JOHOR, Malaysia (AP) — Sweden’s Daniel Chopra shot a 6-under 66 to take a one-stroke lead after the second round of the rain-delayed Johor Open.

Chopra had a 10-under 134 total in the Asian Tour event at rainy Horizon Hills.

Thailand’s Chapchai Nirat was second after a 67. American David Lipsky had a 73 to top the group at 8 under, and Spain’s Sergio Garcia was 7 under after a 69.

South Africa’s Ernie Els was 3 under after a 72.
