New Delhi, Jan 28 (IANS) The winners of the inaugural Hockey India League (HIL) will win a grand prize of Rs.2.5 crore along with a trophy while the runners-up will collect a sum of Rs.1.25 crore.
The team finishing in the third place will win Rs.75 Lakh.
Making the announcement here Monday, HIL chairman Narinder Batra said that the Player of the Tournament will receive Rs.25 Lakh and a trophy.
The Upcoming Player of the Tournament will receive the Ponty Chadha Trophy and Rs.20 Lakh while the team scoring the highest number of goals in the league stage gets the Airtel Award of Rs.10 Lakh and a trophy.
The team getting the least number of green, yellow and red cards will get the Fair Play Trophy.
“The HIL is proud to announce these exciting awards for the teams and the players who are putting forward a great show for millions of fans of the game across the world. The cash prizes come as rewards for the franchisee, players and the support teams’ hard work and dedication to make HIL the best in the world,” Batra said.
Currently the players gain recognition in each match through the Man of the Match, receiving Rs.25,000 per game, for the Goal of the Match, receiving Rs.25,000 per match, and the Golden Goal scorers per match collecting Rs.10,000 each. HIL will be distributing a total of Rs.5.40 Crore in prize money.
