Hoysala smashes hundred in Inter-University cricket

Manipal, Dec 24 (IANS) After a superb double-century against KLEF University, Vaddeswaram in a first round match, Arjun Hoysala continued his good performance in the South Zone University Cricket Tournament Monday.

The lad with an eye on the Karnataka opening slot in the future, hit another century. He made 133 off 127 balls with 13 fours and a six against Bharathiar University, Chennai.

A neat 60 by Ullas helped Bangalore score 328 for seven in 50 overs. Their bowlers, particularly S. Hoover and Nishit restricted the Chennai side to 118. The bowlers took three wickets each for 21 and 20 runs respectively. Bangalore moved into the third round.

Making the pre-quarter-final round were Mangalore, Calicut and JNTU Universities.

At Manipal University Ground 1: U of Calicut beat Mysore University by 83 runs. U of Calicut 179 all out in 44.3 overs (Davis J Manavalan 39, Akhil Haran 26, Fausad 26, Abhishek Tiwari 26. Sharvin 3 for 37, Shantaraj 2 for 17). Mysore 96 all out in 36.1 0vers. (Naveen M 54. Mohammed 4 for 27, Ramesh 2 for 17).

At Manipal University Ground 2: Mangalore U beat Mahatma Gandhi U, Kottayam by four wickets. MG Kottayam 132 all out in 40.4 overs. (Rohit Rajnish 58, Vinoop Manoharan 16. At MGM College: U of Kerala beat VIT Vellore by five wickets. VIT, Vellore 148 all out in 36.1 overs (Akash Sumra 64, Unnikrishnan 25, Satyanarayan 19. Ajeesh 2 for 30, Akhil Das 2 for 28, Balu D 3 for 12) U of Kerala 149 for five in 31.5 overs (Rahul P 512 n.o., Balu D 32 n.o. Ankit Agarwal 2 for 30, Akash Sumra 2 for 19).

At NIT-K, Surathkal Ground 1: Bangalore U beat Bharathiar U Coimbatore by 210 runs. Bangalore U 328 for 7 in 50 overs (Arjun Hoysala 133, Ullas 60, Raj Kumnar 37, Hemant Kumar 20, Girish 21, Nitish 15. Bharathiar U Coimbatore 118 for 9 in 31.1 overs (Abhinav 35, Yogeshwar 22, Manikantan 27. S Hoover 3 for 21, Nishit 3 for 20).

At NIT-K Surathkal Ground 2: Bharath U Chennai beat Kalasalingam U, Warangal by 129 runs.
