International Olympic Committee threatens suspending Pakistan over government interference in sports

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — First India, now Pakistan?
It seems the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has its hands full on the subcontinent after it announced that Pakistan’s Olympic committee faces a possible suspension over interference by government officials in how sports are run.
IOC spokesman Mark Adams said the Pakistani government has ignored an invitation to meet on Friday in Lausanne to resolve an ongoing dispute. Adams added the IOC executive board “might soon consider a suspension” for Pakistan.
India was suspended from the Olympics in December following IOC warnings against government interference in the country’s Olympic committee elections.
